Hunger to race at an all-time high as athletes seek start lines.

After a challenging 2020 race season, athletes are demonstrating that they can’t wait to get back to in-person racing: this week, general registration for all 12 full-distance IRONMAN triathlons across the United States of America and Canada for 2021 have now sold out. The 2021 full-distance IRONMAN season in the U.S. and Canada kicks off with the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas triathlon taking place on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

Throughout the pandemic, athletes have continued to train for their goal of competing in an IRONMAN triathlon. As 2021 events went on sale, the limited inventory available has sold out quickly. The ever-popular Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN Florida sold out in two days, while IRONMAN California in Sacramento, new to the circuit, sold out in one day. IRONMAN Arizona reached capacity before it reached general registration, selling out during presale. More than 13,000 athletes will be racing in their first-ever full-distance IRONMAN event in 2021.

These United States and Canada full-distance IRONMAN events are now sold out for 2021:

Return to Racing

This past summer, IRONMAN introduced its Safe Return To Racing guidelines which outline a series of comprehensive operating principles prepared in accordance with industry standards for endurance sporting events. Multiple events in North America were successfully conducted under these guidelines in 2020 which focuses on five key areas: enhanced hygiene, screening and education, density reduction, touchpoint minimization and athlete self-reliance.

2021 IRONMAN events will continue to be held under these guidelines and modified as appropriate with the latest set available to be viewed here.

Virtual Club

Athletes can stay in shape and train for upcoming events by signing up for the IRONMAN Virtual Club and competing in the IRONMAN Virtual Racing Series. The Virtual Club allows athletes to train, compete, and celebrate achievements with a global community of fellow athletes no matter where they live.

Since its initial launch in March of 2020, the IRONMAN Virtual Club has grown to reach over 125,000 members across 180 nations and all U.S. States on the platform. With hundreds of thousands completing one of the 34 IRONMAN VR races offered since its debut, the innovative platform continues to bring the IRONMAN community together virtually week after week.
