In May of 2012, 22 Canadian soldiers on Cervélo S2 bikes took part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride, a six-day, 550-kilometre journey through France and Belgium organized by Britain’s Help for Heroes campaign. The ride’s goal was to increase awareness of mental health issues affecting members of the military and their families.

The Canadian riders, who were supported by the Wounded Warriors Canada non-profit organization and joined by Cervélo territory manager Glenn Innes, helped raise funds for the treatment of other Canadian Forces members, as well as for their own recovery therapies from operational stress injuries.

Fast-forward to 2015, and Wounded Warriors Canada’s participation in the ride, along with Cervélo’s support of it, has evolved and expanded dramatically. Cervélo was the presenting sponsor of the 2015 edition, which kicked off on June 13 as an independent event. Cervélo S5s worth more than $30,000 were donated to equip 82 Canadian soldiers and veterans, who were joined by more than 100 friends, family members and support staff. The bikes were then auctioned off, helping to raise more than $500,000 for services and programs that support ill and injured Canadian Forces members, veterans and their families.
