The IMGA executive board voted unanimously for Lombardy after a thorough process of evaluation to ensure all requirements are met to hold an amazing multi-sport event for thousands of winter athletes. Looking ahead to the Games in 2024, IMGA President Sergey Bubka said, “The IMGA is looking very much forward to Lombardy (Italy) hosting the Games in 2024. Their reputation for sports delivery along with the beautiful nature combined with their legendary hospitality will guarantee master’s athletes have a wonderful experience. The fact that our event can be used as a potential test ground for the Winter Olympic Games in the region is a bonus.” The IMGA and region Lombardy will work together to deliver sustainable and excellent Winter Games in January 2024, four years after the success of the 2020 Winter World Masters Games in Innsbruck.
