The International Masters Games Association (IMGA) has announced the 2020 Pan American Masters Games originally scheduled to be held in Rio de Janeiro, and were postponed to 2022, have now been canceled due to ongoing uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was scheduled to take place this fall, however, the pandemic and the economic strain that follows make it impossible to hold the event in 2022. As a result, the Organizing Committee and the IMGA have made the difficult decision to cancel the event.

The IMGA still believes Rio would be an ideal host to host the Games and they are working with the Organizing Committee to see if there is a solution for 2028 to bring the Masters community together in this vibrant city destination.

The IMGA is now focusing on the next Pan American Masters Games in Cleveland, Ohio which will take place from July 12-23, 2024.  The IMGA and the Cleveland Organizing Committee are preparing for an amazing event where Masters Athletes will be able to compete, and share their passion for an active and healthy lifestyle, with other like-minded adults.
