The Organizing Committee of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) 2020 Masters Track Cycling World Championships has received numerous requests to include an ‘Over 80’ age category in the championships.

Following representation to the UCI by the Organizing Committee this has now been agreed for this year’s championships which will be staged from October 10-17 in Manchester, England.  80+ events will now be held for both men and women in the championship events of Time Trial, Sprint, Individual Pursuit, Points Race and Scratch Race providing that the minimum number of riders take part. These are 8 for the individual and 12 for the bunch races. Should these numbers not be met, the age group will be combined with the 75-79 year group but separate victory ceremonies will be held for the two age groups.

The Organising Committee will issue a revised schedule but it is envisaged that the extra event will be on the same days as the existing 75+ category.  This decision will be welcomed by the older riders some of whom have participated in several lower age groups during the 26 years of the championships.

Entries for the championships and ticket sales are now open at www.cyclingmasters.com
